I have been involved in teaching guitar for over 25 years, both as an instructor, and as administrator heading up teaching programs at local stores as well writing curriculum and managing stores for the Yamaha Rock School program. I have taught everyone from young beginners to pro players who are currently touring the world. I love the way the guitar makes sense as you learn, and I try to instill that in my students so they are not just learning songs or patterns, but learning how music works! It is a beautiful art!
I have also taught classes on the music business and recording, and just love to share all the various knowledge I have acquired by being a professional player with students that are excited about learning. I spend a lot of time working with players who have been playing a few years but find themselves “stuck” and are not sure what they need to do to get to the next level. I like to view my role as a “coach” to help guide them to get where they want to be. Everyone needs a coach!
Although I no longer teach private lessons locally as I did for many years, technology has allowed me to still maintain contact with a select group of students in TrueFire’s Online Classrooms where I teach students from around the world. This is a great way to get one on one lessons in an online setting. I worked with TrueFire to develop this Online Classroom Platform that keeps the personal touch via easy video messaging with students, and allows me to have my own online library of videos to draw from.
In addition to one on one lessons, I have taught over 300 educational clinics for Yamaha, and have conducted educational workshops all across the U.S. as well as England, Wales, Switzerland and Mexico. I am available to teach or consult with large international educational events. Contact me for details.
As a TrueFire instructor I have authored 6 complete video courses. These cover a wide range of topics and are available for purchase as an instant download or data dvd.
